RD: Can you share a bit about your professional journey and how you arrived at your current role as Head of Business Development at Rdentify?
DW: Absolutely! I spent around five to six years in the UK working in recruitment before making a move to Gibraltar. There, I dived back into recruitment, specifically focusing on iGaming recruitment. This shift allowed me to grasp the nuances of roles and the overall vibe of the iGaming industry. About two years ago, I officially embarked on my journey in iGaming, leading me to my current role as the Head of Business Development at Rdentify .
RD: What motivated you to pursue a career in business development?
DW: Sales is my passion! I thrive on the excitement of building a business and experiencing success through the team. I’m naturally competitive, and the prospect of putting ideas into action, from marketing to driving the business forward, genuinely excites me.
RD: In the rapidly evolving landscape of business development, how do you stay informed about industry trends and incorporate them into your strategies?
DW: Staying ahead in the dynamic world of business development involves a mix of attending events, staying active on LinkedIn, networking, and, of course, a fair share of travel for trade events. These elements collectively keep me well informed and enable me to adapt to evolving industry trends.
RD: Building and maintaining relationships is crucial in business development. How do you approach relationship-building with clients, partners, and stakeholders?
DW: I keep it real. Being down-to-earth and a parent often opens up common ground for discussion. It’s not just about formal emails; I enjoy casual conversations on WhatsApp. Travelling to meet clients in person is something I prioritise as it allows me to not only understand the company better but also build that crucial face-to-face rapport.
RD: How would you describe the company culture at Rdentify, and how does it align with your approach to business development?
DW: Rdentify’s culture mirrors my personal approach seamlessly. The emphasis on being down-to-earth and building personal connections aligns perfectly with my strategy of understanding clients not just on a professional level but on a personal one as well.
RD: Outside of the professional realm, what’s a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might be surprised to learn?
DW: Here’s a fun twist—I’m actually qualified in mechanics! Cars and everything related to driving are my passion. When it comes to vehicles, Porsche is my top choice due to its performance, sound, handling, and overall class. Audi comes in a close second, especially the RS models that guarantee a smile while driving.
RD: If you were not working in business development, what alternate career path do you think you might have pursued?
DW: Without a doubt, anything car-related would have been my dream alternate career. Perhaps not full-on mechanics, but something blending cars and sales, with the added perk of travelling the world, would have been absolutely ideal.
RD: What’s a book, movie, or TV show that you’ve enjoyed recently and would recommend to others?
DW: I recently enjoyed watching “The Business,” featuring Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan. It captures the essence of the south of Spain vibe with 80’s music, making every song a banger. It’s a must-watch!
RD: If you could have dinner with any football legend, who would it be and why?
DW: As a massive Arsenal fan, my ultimate dinner companion would be Thierry Henry. Connecting with a legendary figure from my favourite team would be an incredible experience and a dream come true.
